Doha 1

जनक जननि पद कमल रज, निज मस्तक पर धारि। बंदउँ मातु सरस्वती, बुद्धि बल दे दातारि॥

Janak janani pad kamal raj, nij mastak par dhari. Bandaun matu Saraswati, buddhi bal de datari.

Placing the dust of my parents' lotus feet on my head, I bow to Mother Saraswati, the bestower of intelligence and strength.

Doha 2

पूर्ण जगत में व्याप्त तव, महिमा अमित अनन्त। दूर करो माँ मोह को, दो शुभ बुद्धि अनन्त॥

Poorn jagat mein vyaapt tav, mahima amit anant. Door karo maan moh ko, do shubh buddhi anant.

Your limitless and infinite glory pervades the entire universe. O Mother, remove delusion and grant us endless auspicious wisdom.

Chaupai 1

जय श्री सकल बुद्धि बलदाता। जय जय जय सरस्वती माता॥

Jai Shri sakal buddhi baldaata. Jai jai jai Saraswati mata.

Glory to the bestower of all wisdom and strength! Glory, glory, glory to Mother Saraswati!

Chaupai 2

सरस्वती माता तू ही विद्यादायिनी। तेरे चरणन में नित-नित शीश नवायनी॥

Saraswati mata tu hi vidyadayini. Tere charanan mein nit-nit shish navayni.

O Mother Saraswati, you alone are the bestower of all learning. I bow my head at your feet again and again, every day.

Chaupai 3

वीणा पुस्तक राजित हस्ता। शुभ्र वसन धारण करता॥

Veena pustak rajit hasta. Shubhra vasan dharan karta.

With a veena and a book adorning your hands, you wear pure white garments.

Chaupai 4

हंस वाहन राजित माता। तुम समान नहि कोई दाता॥

Hans vahan rajit mata. Tum saman nahi koi data.

You ride the swan in resplendent glory, O Mother. No one is as great a bestower as you.

Chaupai 5

मधुर बोल बोलाती माता। ज्ञान-विज्ञान सदा देती दाता॥

Madhur bol bolati mata. Gyan-vigyan sada deti data.

You speak with sweet words, O Mother. You are the ever-giving bestower of knowledge and science.

Chaupai 6

ब्रह्मा तुम्हारी पत्नी कहावे। शेष-सहस्र मुख यश गावे॥

Brahma tumhari patni kahave. Shesh-sahastra mukh yash gave.

You are called the consort of Brahma. The thousand-mouthed Sheshnaga sings your glory.

Chaupai 7

विद्यार्थी तुमको नित ध्यावें। परीक्षा में उत्तम फल पावें॥

Vidyarthi tumko nit dhaven. Pariksha mein uttam phal paven.

Students who meditate on you daily attain the best results in their examinations.

Chaupai 8

कवि-कविता-करण-कुशला। काव्य-रचना में देती उजाला॥

Kavi-kavita-karan-kushala. Kavya-rachna mein deti ujala.

You are supremely skilled in inspiring poets and poetry, bringing illumination to all literary composition.

Chaupai 9

शारदा माँ वरदान दो हमको। विद्या-बुद्धि-बल दो हमको॥

Sharada maan vardan do hamko. Vidya-buddhi-bal do hamko.

O Mother Sharada, grant us your boon. Give us learning, intelligence and strength.

Chaupai 10

बुद्धि हीन को बुद्धि प्रदायनि। नाम तुम्हारा जपत सुखदायनि॥

Buddhi heen ko buddhi pradayni. Naam tumhara japat sukhdayni.

You grant wisdom even to the wisdom-less. Chanting your name brings happiness.

Chaupai 11

सकल कला की तुम स्वामिनी। देवी शारद वाणी भवानी॥

Sakal kala ki tum swamini. Devi Sharad vani Bhavani.

You are the mistress of all arts. O Goddess Sharada, the goddess of speech, you are Bhavani herself.

Chaupai 12

सरस्वती चालीसा गावे। ज्ञान-भक्ति मनवांछित पावे॥

Saraswati Chalisa gave. Gyan-bhakti manvanchit pave.

Whoever sings the Saraswati Chalisa attains knowledge, devotion, and all their heart's desires.

Doha (Closing)

माँ सरस्वती की कृपा से, मिटे अज्ञान-अंधकार। ज्ञान ज्योति जगमगाए, हो जीवन में उजियार॥

Maan Saraswati ki kripa se, mite agyan-andhkar. Gyan jyoti jagmagaye, ho jeevan mein ujiyar.

By Mother Saraswati's grace, the darkness of ignorance is dispelled. The lamp of knowledge blazes bright, bringing radiance into life.
